Firing Up the Griddle for the Gen 10 Starters!

Drawing the NEW Pokémon Starters! (Please don't ruin them) 🥞

The Pokémon community is buzzing, and so are our squeeze bottles! With the recent announcement of Pokémon Winds and Waves dropping on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, we were instantly introduced to our next trio of travel companions: Browt (the Grass-type Bean Chick), Pombon (the Fire-type Puppy), and Gecqua (the Water-type Gecko).

Naturally, the only proper way to welcome them to the world is to tell them to 𝚞𝚜𝚎 𝙵𝙻𝙸𝙿 on the griddle.

Real talk, these might be our favorite starting designs in a long time. They are fat, cute, and incredibly effective. But as we poured the batter for these little guys, we couldn’t help but send a quiet prayer to the design team: Please don’t blow it with their final evolutions.

We are completely in love with Pokémon when they actually feel like creatures. Please don’t give these guys 9-to-5 jobs like the last few generations. We don’t want magicians, drummers, or soccer players. We don’t care if humanoid designs make them a better fit for the Smash Bros. roster—we want to fight children with a BEAR. Or at least, a bear-sized Pomeranian.

Please don’t make Pombon an accountant. And please, for the love of all things holy, don’t make anything like Inteleon ever again. (We’re still not over it.)

Honestly, the truth behind this video is that we were just messing around at the end of the day! We had some leftover batter sitting around, but when new Pokémon drop, you don’t overthink it—you just fire up the griddle and start pouring.

Even as a quick, spontaneous cake, recreating these three was an absolute blast. At least we can enjoy the fact that their starting designs are top-tier. And even better? They’re delicious.
