The Joy of Pancakes LIVE – 9/11/2020 “Freedom”

Hey everyone. Here’s the archived video of our last Joy of Pancakes LIVE – done on september 11th, 2020. The first prompt was ‘Freedom’ – but afterwards I threw on a chilled out sloth, and a technicolor snith (from Harry Potter). We really love doing these and can’t wait to do more! Next stream is Monday, september 14th at 2pm CDT – see you then!

Here’s some still shots of the pancakes we made, taken from my phone. I really love the simple style I’ve been cultivating since starting this series; this palette is a lot of fun! (You can get your hands on your own set of bottles and colors in the dancakes store, yknow!)

Far in thebackground, we see gorgeous mountains rise with a crosshatch shadow effect adding texture and character, and above the whole scene, a brilliant sun with breathtaking rays bathes the whole image in a strange autumn light. Birds fly in front of the sun. The piece is titled 'Freedom', and was made using the artist's memories of a visit to Yellowstone national park. — "Freedom" - a prompt chosen because of the day of the stream (September 11th). I drew on my memories of Yellowstone national park to create a fantastic place in the natural world where I might have felt the most free.

Pancake art of a pensive, contented sloth clinging to a lichen-covered tree and gazing at the viewer with a knowing smile. The sloth emits undulating rays of green and white light, beckoning the viewer to relax and be at peace. The illustration is colored with many contrasting lines and hatchings, and filled with a psychedelic rainbow palette that makes it all feel dreamlike. — "Rejuvenation" - a piece prompted by two comments from the chat, one of whom mentioned loving sloths, and the other who suggested 'restfulness' or 'rejuvenation' as themes. The two prompts were combined to create this wise sloth beckoning you to find some peace in these hectic times.

In the middle distance three great hoops rise up atop poles from the surface of a quidditch field, and clouds and stars show that it is twilight. The wings of the snitch are outstretched and still, colored with grays and blues to emulate their silver sheen. — "The Snitch" - a simple request prompted by a friend in chat who wanted to see something related to Harry Potter.
